D-Backs Make a U-Turn Around!

The D-Backs offense took the week off and the pitching stepped it up! The D-Backs won 5 of 6 this week.  The guys on the bump only gave up 3 runs per game! The top 4 in the rotation are 23-4! B-Webb continues to roll, Haren has been solid, The Unit surprisingly good, and Owings continues to improve.

The Fredstrom is still waiting for Reynolds and Byrnes to get back on track.  Byrnes did go 2-3 on Saturday, and Reynolds 3-4 today, hopefully that will get the ball rolling. The D-Backs hit the road for 7 games, let's see how our baby backs do away from Chase Field.

Stay tuned tomorrow for an update on the Fredstrom's hitting streak!

Fredstrom in a Playoff Game of His Own!

The Fredstrom denies all allegations regarding suspected steroid use!

Monday morning at 8:45, The Fredstrom will attempt to keep his hitting streak alive. It's the annual Teachers vs. 6th Graders Softball game.  The Arrowhead staff has done a great job signing some amazing talent to one day contracts.  With one teacher expecting, one out with micro-fracture knee surgery (the Juice), and another out of town Arrowhead looks to fill these shoes with new talent.

Back to the streak, out of the four at-bats for the Fredstrom over 2 games, he has connected with 4 homeruns-his apologies to the kindergartner he tagged last year.  Another year has been tacked on to that already flimsy body. Can he do it? Can he muster up some strength and put one out?

This year is going to be bigger and better than ever.  Intro songs for the teachers, dual interactive scoring easels, and a light salmon monster wall in left.  Who you got? Get your vote on! GO TEACHERS!

Wrigley Singing Disasters!

With the JuiceBox's QB Tony Romo singing during the 7th Inning Stretch at Wrigley this weekend, it got the Fredstrom thinking....

Who has done the worst job performing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game?"

Ozzy Osbourne or Mike Ditka?

Mike does this song in 22 seconds. Listen to the organist trying to keep up. Too funny!

Who do you like? The Fredstrom is going with the JUICEBOX!

D'Antoni Out. No One in. D-backs Down.

The Fredstrom is back and is still unfortunately not the coach of the Suns... but neither is Mike D'Antoni.  It has been confirmed that Mike D'Antoni will be the coach of the New York Knicks.  He agreed to a 4 year deal worth $24 million.  If he though Phx had upper management problems, HOLY COW the Knicks payroll for the next 3 years is listed below...astronomical salaries for many sub par players.
The Fredstrom thinks you only let D'Antoni go if you can replace him with someone that is better.  Who is out there that would be a good fit?  This blog community wants Doug Collins, but does he want the job?  Now that D'Antoni is gone will Collins consider?

On to an even sadder note, the D-Backs have had a rough week.  They are 2-5 this past week.  The bullpen has had a tough go of it and their hitting has really dropped off. They averaged 8 runs per in their wins and only 3 in their loses.  They started out this season really hot and have gone ice cold this week.  Let's hope they heat up again and quick.  B-Webb's shoulders are going to be getting really heavy if they don't figure it out soon.  Fortunately the D-Backs still have a 3.5 game lead in the West. Do you see them turning it around?

As far as the rest of the NBA goes.  The Spurs stole one back. The Celtics can't win on the road.  Kobe wins the MVP-Lakers up 2-1 but still looking strong and The Fredstrom doesn't really care about the Magic series, but apparently the NBA does.  Did you see that extra time they got for that Billups 3? Or that last shot of tonight's game where Turkoglu drew all that foul that wasn't called.    The Fredstrom is predicting the Hornets and Lakers to advance.  Boston and Detroit will do the same.  At this point The Fredstrom is unsure of who will play in the Finals.  Your predictions?

New Rob Bell Tour DVD- Highly Recommended

The Fredstrom is very stoked to announce that Rob Bell's newest tour DVD is being released soon.  The Fredstrom saw this tour when it came to Phx in November and it was truly amazing.  You can visit thegodsarentangry.com or view preview clips through iTunes.  The Fredstrom just ordered his copy.  Every person that the Fredstrom lends Rob Bell videos to raves about Rob's speaking abilities and the strong metaphors that connect with all of us. Click on the image below to go to the tour webpage.

Other Rob Bell products include the NOOMA series videos available at NOOMA.com. Previews and blurbs about each video are accessible here too.  Every dollar from the NOOMA videos go to help set up entrepreneurial opportunities for the people of Burundi.  This effort is to help third world countries become self-sufficient, instead of just dumping money into
Rob Bell also has written two highly acclaimed books: Velvet Elvis and Sex God.

Finally, you might remember reading about the Everything is Spiritual DVD that also came highly recommended by the Fredstrom.  It is phenomenal, a must see.   Again you can see previews on iTunes or at everythingisspiritual.com.

There Can Only Be One..Baron Davis or Zohan?

The Fredstrom just saw this commercial during the Celtics/Hawks game. It's a spoof of the NBA campaign- "There Can Only Be One."   If you are reading this in the email, remember you must go to the blog to view.  Too funny...

D-Backs Roll, Spurs Roll Over...

The Fredstrom is planning on weekly Diamondback updates.  As of May 2, 2008:

The D-Backs' offense ranks in the top 5 in hits, doubles, triples, homers, and RBI's.

The D-Backs pitching ranks 1st in wins (21), 1st in ERA, and 4th in strikeouts.

The D-Backs continue to put up runs and pitch like their lives depend on it.  The Dodgers have won 7 in a row and still are 4.5 games back.  The Fredstrom is hoping that Reynolds pulls out of his hitting slump, he's down to .226.

Props to Augie Ojeda for coming off the bench and driving in 6 runs today.  The D-backs face Santana tomorrow, should be a great game.

As you can see the Fredstrom is a bit thin on his D-Backs knowledge.  The Fredstrom is counting on the readers to continue to bring their baseball takes.
Currently the Fredstrom is rallying behind the Hornets (see the blog title description).  After the first half it is clear that the NBA really likes the Spurs.  Tony Longoria and Bruiser Bowen have already been laying on the floor grimacing in pain acting like Hulk Hogan playing "Mercy" with the Ultimate Warrior. The second half proved much different... continue reading.

Remember when Nash reached in on Parker in the playoffs last year? Nash's nose explodes and he stands over Mr. Longoria while he lays on the ground motionless. Nash takes the hit like a real man while Mr. Eva flops around waiting for the ref to give Nash a red card...Phony Parker thinks he's playing soccer. Reminds me of the Karate Kid before resorting to the "Crane" technique.  Miagi says "Quit being a little pansy and get up!"
This leaves the Fredstrom wondering what the Macho Man thinks about the Spurs silly behavior?
Did the Rockets flop when they had Hakeem? Did the Bulls have any floppers? Detroit? The Showtime or Shaq/Kobe Lakers? The Fredstrom never saw Indiana Jones, James Bond, or Clint Eastwood flop!  So over the past 20 years, no NBA team or movie stud has resorted to this ugliness. Then why does the NBA allow it now?  Get rid of it! "T" them up!

Dear San An-phony-o,
Listen to the Macho Man.  Win by playing basketball, not by taking advantage of the rules, hacking players, trying to fool the refs, hip checking players into the scorer's table, stepping on players, kneeing players in the groin, etc. etc. etc.  Try playing basketball the way it was meant to be played.  Defense does not mean fouling off the ball, making the other team shoot free throws for minutes at a time.
There's a reason that your games receive the lowest TV ratings, you are miserable to watch. Will the Matfia please bet on someone else?!  The Fredstrom is tired of the Spurs.

Play like the Hornets, the team that just punk'd you tonight!  Final score Hornets 101-Spurs 82!
Congrats to Tim Duncan's 5 points!  What a beautiful game.  Macho Man is proud.
